After Paihia we headed further north to Cape Reinga, which is in fact the furthest north you can go on the mainland of New Zealand. It was a long journey, which took us along a road, which followed a beach called the ‘Ninety mile beach’ before arriving at the most northern point of mainland New Zealand (Cape Reinga). We then headed back along ‘Ninety mile beach’ to the nearest campsite within our budget and preceded to road test all our camping gear. The tent was only a 3 men tent but it was a lot easier to set up and take down which we were obviously pleased about. We also started a recurring trend of only paying for 2 of us as camping is priced per person rather than per pitch.
